From our tests, we can say that this is an excellent choice for people who want a complete and versatile blender. Very easy to use, it has only one button to operate the appliance and blend your food. It is therefore quick and easy to prepare smoothies, sauces and other liquid preparations. Although it does not have any advanced options, it does have the advantage of being supplied with many accessories. Moreover, it is quite powerful (700W).

Best mid-range

Moulinex Perfect Mix

During our tests, this model stood out for its design of quality (stainless steel body and heat-resistant glass carafe), its efficiency and its wide range of speeds allowing you to customise the consistency of your preparations.

With a power of 1200W and different speeds, this Moulinex blender proved capable, during our tests, of blending various foods quickly. It is particularly easy to use thanks to its pre-programmed buttons and its knob allowing you to adapt the speed to the ingredients you wish to blend. It also has a solid stainless steel design and a heat-resistant glass jug. With a useful capacity of 1.5 litres (total capacity 2 litres), this model is ideal for a family use.

Best high-end

KitchenAid Classic

Although it is the least energy consuming of our comparison, our tests have shown that it offers good power and very good results. The preparations are customisable thanks to its different speeds.

The KitchenAid Classic Diamond stands out thanks to its large carafe (1.75 L), its robust base and its low power consumption (550 W). We particularly appreciate its neat design and its different speeds, which make it possible to obtain very homogeneous preparations. It is also a brand that has a great deal of experience and reputation in the kitchen (it has already made its mark in our comparison of the best pastry robots).

How to choose your blender?

A blender is a generally easy-to-use mixer that allows you to prepare smoothies, cocktails, soups, purées and sauces. It is also an essential accessory for multi-function food processors. However, there are some criteria to consider if you want to get a good model.

To help you in your choice, here is a list of the main aspects to consider before buying:

  • Type of jug: to make juice to take away, a rigid plastic jug is more recommended, for ease of transport. In fact, some have just the right capacity, with an opening lid to drink directly from. However, if you want to work with a wider range of mixtures, we recommend the glass one. It is more resistant in the long term (except in the event of a fall) and to higher temperatures, and is much more hygienic.
  • Design: if you choose a large jug, look for a model that attaches from the bottom and has an opening at the top so that you can add more food while blending without having to stop the machine. This allows you to ensure that the food is well blended before adding the rest.
  • Motor: the power of the motor often determines the recommended running time. Unfortunately, some blenders cannot run for more than 20 or 30 seconds at a time, and must be paused for several minutes before restarting. Other blenders with stronger motors can run for up to 3 minutes without overheating.

With these parameters in mind, we have identified 30 models currently popular on the market, for which we have consulted various specialist tests. In order to decide between them, we have selected other criteria that make them more comfortable to use:

  • Number of speeds: in general, the more speeds there are, the more homogeneous the mixture. The different speeds make it possible to adapt the mixing to the density of the liquid and the desired final consistency. For example, choosing a machine with four or five speeds is ideal. Some blenders even have a special programme that automatically adjusts the speed.

  • Ease of cleaning: blending often means difficult cleaning. Fortunately, today’s models are often quite simple to clean, especially if you choose a device that can be easily disassembled with dishwasher-safe parts. Unlike mixers, some blenders also have a self-cleaning function, which can make the job easier.
  • Noise: a blender is a powerful device, and therefore often noisy. Some are less noisy than others (consider this if you do not want to wake up the whole household when making the morning smoothie).
  • Capacity: remember to choose the size that corresponds to your real needs. While a larger blender will be appreciated by those who like smoothies and soups, a smaller model will be particularly useful for making vinaigrettes, for example. For those who want to carry their preparations with them, there are also mini blenders.

Honorable mentions

Nutribullet 900 W (£67.99 upon publication): good power. This model, with its stainless steel blades, offers a high level of performance. During our tests, this model stood out for its efficient and fast blending (patented cyclone technology), its two bowls (the larger one has a usable capacity of 1200 ml and the smaller one 700 ml) and its recipe book. However, it does not have speeds for fine-tuning the consistency of the food and is a little more difficult to operate than others.
