This compact, universal 68g rotating bar mount is made of plastic and silicone and has a mounting strap compatible with most handlebars. When we tested it, we found it quick and easy to install. The elastic straps ensure that most smartphones (with or without a case, but larger ones were more difficult to attach) can be attached without damaging the frame thanks to the protective, anti-slip zones. It can rotate through 360° and quickly switch from portrait to landscape mode without affecting visibility. From our point of view, it is ideal for use on smooth, paved roads or paths, but not so much for trails or mountain routes. Another drawback is that without a case, the smartphone is not protected from the weather.
Rokform V4
Easy to install and made of high-quality materials, the Rokform V4 is solid, stable and offers numerous viewing angles.
Designed for road and mountain bikes, this magnetic mount can be attached to all 2.8 cm stems very securely thanks to the double retention locking system. How did we test?
We start by assessing the installation of each phone holder. We then tested compatibility, attachment and reliability using different types of smartphones and bikes ( MTBs, city bikes, hybrids, etc.), and varying routes (tarmac roads, trails, forest roads, etc.). It also allowed us to observe any vibrations.
We handled each model in all directions to judge the ergonomics (portrait, landscape, landscape and tilt modes). Finally, we went out in all kinds of weather conditions to check whether the smartphone was well protected from rain and dust, and to check the readability of the display.
How to choose your bike phone holder?
If you don’t have a GPS-bike computer, you can still use your smartphone for cycling. However, the durability of your device depends heavily on the quality of the mount.
In order to choose the product that best suits your needs or requirements, please consider the following criteria before purchasing:
- The type of attachment: most are mounted on the stem or on the handlebars, which offers major advantages in terms of installation, as no assembly tools are required. However, check their compatibility with the size of the handlebar frame. Also, some brands provide elastic rings or hooks to provide a more secure mount and better compatibility (magnetic ones are less secure).
- Waterproofing: the phone holder should not only protect your smartphone from rain but also from the weather, dust and UV rays. To do this, consider the protection rating.
- The cover: if the phone holder comes with a case, check the dimensions of it to ensure it matches the phone’s dimensions. To do this, check the manufacturer’s size guide. However, the sound quality and the feel of the screen deteriorate with the case.
- The materials: these are crucial in minimising (or not) the risk of vibrations. They are generally made of plastic or metal with silicone or rubber. Rigid clamp mounts absorb vibrations better. Also, think about choosing a lightweight model as much as possible.
- Ergonomics: it allows you to find the optimum viewing angle. The 360° models are the most practical for multiple operations and switching from portrait to landscape mode. Some even act as a power bank (perfect for using GPS without running out of battery!).

It features a patented, sturdy and secure four-arm metal arm system. In addition, its easy screw installation and 360° position can be adjusted, which considerably improves its ergonomics and usability.
Nite Ize Squeeze (£53.99 upon publication): stands out due to its wide compatibility. When we put it to the test, we found it quick and easy to install. The holder is reliable, and smartphone is easy to attach and remove (with or without a case) thanks to the two rods that allow the side support bars to be folded out. In addition, the foam reinforcements prevent damage to the phone. We also liked the 360° rotation, allowing the device to be rotated vertically or horizontally, or to be tilted. Despite the good readability of the screen, it does not have a protective case for outdoor environments. In addition, we think the price is a bit high.
