Amazon Solimo
(4 x 200 ml)
Appreciated for its effectiveness and low price, this depilatory cream formulated for body use is suitable for sensitive skin and has a fairly good composition, qualities that considerably improve its quality/price value.
Although it does not specialize in beauty products or treatments, the Amazon brand has convinced us with its depilatory cream for sensitive skin. It can be used on all areas of the body: legs, arms, underarms, and bikini lines. In our tests, it was effective after 6.5 minutes of application (instead of the stated 5 minutes). The maximum application time is 10 minutes, and the product was gentle on the skin (no irritation, itching, or burning). On the practical side, a rigid plastic spatula for spreading and removing the cream is included with the purchase. In our opinion, the S-shaped spatula is extremely practical.
Veet Minima Pure
(200 ml)
Veet offers a body and leg cream that is ideal for sensitive skin thanks to its gentler formula. It is effective and works fairly quickly. A thin layer will be enough to remove hair from a large area of the body.
For sensitive skin (body and legs), this cream proved its effectiveness just 5 minutes after application. Not only does it have the advantage of not irritating the skin or causing allergic reactions, but it also seduced us with its more discreet fragrance than other products from the brand. And if its composition is not exactly exemplary, it is still decent for a conventional product. Like the Amazon product described above, it comes with a spatula for applying and removing the cream, although it is not as practical.

Honorable mentions
Veet Men (£13.95 / 400 ml upon publication): a choice for men. With its pomp packaging, this cream proved to be effective, even on the longest hairs. After 6 minutes of application, the results were already beginning to show, however, we must say that we found it a little difficult to remove the cream from the body, even in the shower. Also, we didn’t notice any difference between this product and another one for women, in fact, the smell is almost identical. The worst thing? The composition.

How to choose your hair removal cream?
Although not as well known and famous as other hair removal treatments, depilatory creams offer some significant advantages. Thanks to a chemical process they offer a convincing result (especially on fine hair) for several days, and painlessly.

Before purchasing, you should pay attention to several criteria to choose the product that best suits your skin and your needs:

- Application: Ideally, apply the product in a thick layer to cover as much of the hair to be removed as possible. Once the application time has elapsed, just remove the hair with a spatula or sponge and rinse the cream. Be sure to choose a cream specifically formulated for the areas you wish to remove hair from (sensitive areas, face, body…) and, if necessary, pick a product that is as gentle and healthy for the skin as possible.

- The application tool: Some creams come with a simple spatula (classic or curved) or a sponge. In our tests, the conventional spatula proved to be the most effective for applying and removing the cream and much more hygienic than the sponge.

- Application time: On average, the product should be allowed to act for five minutes to obtain satisfactory results, bearing in mind that the longer and thicker the hair, the longer the wait. To avoid any risk of reaction, irritation, or burns, it is essential to respect the time of application of the product and to rinse it off quickly after the application time has elapsed. According to our tests, the maximum recommended time is 5 to 10 minutes, but in reality, we advise you not to exceed 8 minutes. After this time, our editors started to feel irritation in the exposed areas.

- The composition: In addition to thioglycolic acid and its hair-dissolving salts, creams often include soothing active ingredients such as aloe vera. Many conventional skin care products also contain paraffin oil, which has been criticized for its mineral origin and its impact on the environment. It is best to ensure that the products used are free of controversial health ingredients. Also, as the cream usually ends up going down the sink or shower, it is best to choose products that are as environmentally friendly as possible.

To avoid any unpleasant surprises, we advise you to test a small area of your skin before attempting to remove all the hair for the first time. If you experience burning or irritation, rinse the product immediately. Also, avoid direct sun exposure after the hair removal session.
How did we do the tests?
We tested all the hair removal creams on our legs to compare them, following the instructions for use meticulously. We judged whether the minimum application time indicated was sufficient, or whether it was better to wait a little longer.
Efficacy was the most crucial point in our tests. The creams had to remove hair well without damaging our skin. We also evaluated the number of applications that can be made with each bottle and thoroughly analyzed the composition of each cream.
Other products tested
Veet (£6.18 / 150 ml upon publication): neither very hygienic nor practical. As this cream comes in a disposable bottle, its double-sided sponge will end up on the edge of the bathtub or sink, collecting dust in the bathroom. In addition, it is rather awkward, in our opinion, to start showering without wetting your legs as indicated in the instructions for use…
Acorelle (£23.10 / 150 ml upon publication): better composition, worse efficiency. During our tests, this depilatory cream was simply useless. With an application time of 3 to 7 minutes, we waited to remove the cream little by little in 1 minute intervals, but with no success. This is a pity, as it has the best composition of all the creams we tested.
