Summary
Design
The Roidmi Eve Plus has a classic shape, but a modern and pleasing matte black and white look. The physical buttons are three in number (power on, return to base and target cleaning) and rather discreet, unlike the laser sensor at the top, which is quite prominent.
The presence of the latter is an advantage from the point of view of navigation, but implies a height of nearly 10 cm preventing it from passing under certain pieces of furniture.
When you unpack it, you immediately notice the presence of two rotating brushes, where many of its competitors are content with just one. This is an asset in its game, as it improves overall waste collection.
The collector is positioned on the side of the robot and has the particularity of being 2-in-1 (water and dust, in two separate compartments).
The dust container is particularly inconvenient to open and has a limited capacity of 300 ml. Fortunately, these shortcomings are compensated for by the presence of an automatic emptying station that regularly vacuums up this tank, thus limiting manual interventions.
This station is equipped with a 3L bag, which normally lasts for almost two months before it needs to be replaced. Four bags are supplied in addition to the one already in the station, giving you almost a year’s peace of mind after purchasing your robot.
Of course, it takes up more space than a conventional charging station. This one is 36 cm high and 30 cm wide: it will not fit under a piece of furniture or in a discreet corner.
On the other hand, it has the advantage of having a screen that informs us with a numerical measurement on the battery level of the robot. The only drawback is that it goes into standby mode after 30 minutes and we haven’t found a way to reactivate it without switching on the robot.
It is also on this screen that you can see the ion generator start up, which activates the totally innovative sterilisation and odour neutralisation function. This prevents the formation of mould and eliminates unwanted odours in the long term. We had no problems with this during the test period.
Let’s get back to the robot. The tank area that is intended to hold clean water for mopping has a capacity of 250 ml. We found it inconvenient to fill because of the narrow opening and the somewhat unusual shape of the tank. The mop, on the other hand, is attached from underneath the collector and is, again, not easy to install.
In addition to the washable mop, 10 disposable mops are included, as well as a spare filter. Under the lid of the station, there is also the traditional dusting tool.
Features
Admittedly, this test didn’t get off to a great start as we couldn’t pair the Eve Plus with the Roidmi app. After 30 minutes of unsuccessful attempts, we finally switched to the Xiaomi Home application, which is fortunately compatible.
One of the first observations is that the translation problems make it very difficult to use. This is a pity, because the application is otherwise rather well organised.
The home screen provides a real-time view of the task in progress, battery capacity, cleaning time and surface area processed, as well as returning to base and starting a task.
As with most of the models tested, you can choose to clean the entire room or individual areas, although these choices are not very clear due to a lack of translation.
The Mode tab allows you to select the cleaning preferences, namely the suction power (4 in number, in addition to the total deactivation), the water flow rate (on 3 intensities) if necessary, and whether the robot should make one or two passes. It is also possible to choose a Y path instead of an S path.
The map customisation feature allows you to draw virtual walls or identify no-go areas. If an entire floor is mapped, you can identify each room with labels, specify cleaning preferences for each room, and schedule cleaning in sequence. However, these features lack the responsiveness to be fully operational.
A quick trip to the settings allows us to activate automatic carpet detection and obstacle detection, as well as a Do Not Disturb mode useful for those living in flats.
Then you have access to the setting of the automatic emptying station (screen and emptying frequency), to the programming and to the cleaning history, then to the registration of the consumables.
It is worth mentioning the small problem that we encountered during programming, as the chosen schedule is not respected. The robot starts at a different time than the one selected, as if it was set to a different time zone. Hopefully this will be resolved in a future app update.
Overall, the functionalities offered are quite complete. And despite the misunderstanding of some of them during our first tour, we finally found the application quite simple in its operation.
Performances
With its rangefinder laser, the Roidmi Eve Plus shows no difficulty in navigation. After circling the room, it performs a thorough S-cleaning.
The identification of obstacles is better if the radar is activated in the settings. However, it should be noted that even if the robot has a good view of them, they will not be taken with care: the Eve Plus goes around them so closely that it can even move them if they are not too heavy.
The smallest obstacles (less than 10 cm) are not taken into consideration at all. So be careful not to leave anything too fragile lying around…
To test the suction performance, we spread various sizes of waste on the floor (tiles, carpet and short-pile carpet): salt, lentils and coffee beans.
On hard floors, the results are simply amazing at the standard power setting. The possibility of activating a double pass also enhances the results.
On the carpet, we were a little disappointed by the lack of reactivity of the automatic carpet detection mode, which only starts after 4 seconds. After this time, the robot is already well advanced, which does not allow the edges of the carpet to benefit from the necessary power. It is therefore better to start the maximum power manually, as it is necessary to vacuum all the waste.
The water cleaning test was not very conclusive, however. The water flow rate, even when set to maximum, seemed insufficient as the floor was not evenly moistened. The effectiveness of the mop, which is already a questionable feature without friction or vibration, is therefore a little disappointing for us.
In addition, the automatic carpet detection function does not allow the robot to avoid carpets when the mop is installed.
Finally, the noise level evaluation revealed that the Roidmi Eve Plus offers mixed results. While the quiet and standard suction levels are average, the Max mode is the highest with 77 dB.
Volume for Quiet, Standard and Max modes:
The automatic emptying of the tank is a final defeat for our eardrums, with 88 dB measured. Fortunately, the manoeuvre only lasts 12 seconds.

Battery autonomy
With a claimed 250 minutes autonomy, the Roidmi Eve Plus breaks all records. Our tests did not succeed in shattering this certainty, as it still showed 81% after 1 hour of continuous suction.
This data is displayed in real time on the application, which allows a very precise assessment of what tasks can still be carried out. Similarly, the display on the station allows you to check the charge status at any time.
And once again, this autonomy coupled with automatic emptying guarantees comfortable peace of mind for several days, as there is no need to intervene on the hoover (except for a possible navigation problem).
Conclusion 8/10
Beyond its impressive autonomy and its well-designed emptying station, the Eve Plus convinced us above all by its suction performance. It is therefore a very good choice for large spaces and homes full of life, provided you make some concessions on the application and can do without the mop mode.
