The Kiyo is a very good solution for those who are looking for a complete webcam for video conferencing or even streaming. Its microphone can be interesting even if it remains limited for streaming, where a professional equipment remains much more adapted. It also gives the best possible experience for your use, thanks to the Synapse software which gives you access to a whole range of settings. It proved to be the most convincing during our various tests.
The video quality of your webcam is the most important thing to keep in mind when making your choice.
Several fixings exist, some solutions will be less interesting than others, depending on your expectations.
The minimum vision angle we recommend is 60°.
If you do not want to bother with an extra microphone, it is important that the sound recording is qualitative.
Logitech C270
This simple and efficient webcam is designed to meet simple needs. It is therefore the perfect solution for occasional video conferencing when working from home.
The Logitech C270 is a great solution if you need a webcam for occasional video calls. It has a decent image quality and looks discreet on your desk, without investing too much. However, you will have to deal with a limited quality microphone, which caused us some problems during our various video calls. If you have a little more budget, you can look at the C310 which has an improved look.
Logitech C930e
A revival of the brand’s popular model: this webcam is intended to refine an already excellent model thanks to an attractive price-performance ratio and improved features.
The C930e proudly carries on from the C920 with even better results. It has improved sharpness and shooting angle, while still providing effective exposure and contrast management. In our test room, it managed to adapt to different light conditions without any problems. The microphone still needs some work, but overall it is an excellent model.
Logitech StreamCam
Designed for streamers, this webcam presents itself as a qualitative and efficient solution. It brings some welcome refinements for video content creators.
When it comes to offering a quality peripheral, Logitech rarely disappoints. Once again, this model, which is designed to be a good example of modularity and is intended for streamers or video making enthusiasts, lives up to expectations. It records in 1080p at 60 fps. The StreamCam offers a real difference from the competition, which makes it interesting for more dynamic videos. However, it remains less interesting for the general public than the C930e and lacks discretion on our desk with its surveillance camera look.

How to choose your webcam?
With the advent of teleworking, the need for a good webcam is becoming increasingly important for various remote meetings and video conferencing calls. Unfortunately, with the wide variety of models on the market, it is difficult to determine which one to favour and what budget is justified.
To help you in your approach, we have identified the following criteria:
- Video quality: this is the key element of any webcam. Indeed, if the recording quality is not sufficient enough, your interlocutor may confuse you with your pet. Therefore, a minimum resolution of 720p and good colour and brightness management are essential for the best possible recording quality.
- Sound recording: if you do not have a dedicated microphone or a headset equipped with one, it is necessary to rely on the one built into your camera. In this case, it is important to ensure that your words are clearly intelligible and that ambient noise does not override your voice. Some models have a directional microphone that is less prone to this type of problem.
- Type of fixing: to be able to place your webcam where you want it to be, you need to look at the fixing system. Depending on your needs and your equipment, some solutions will be less interesting than others (for example, it is more complicated to place your webcam on a very thin screen). Also, if you are a streaming or vlogging enthusiast, it may be worthwhile to have a standard screw thread (similar to what you find on cameras) and possibly use a dedicated tripod.
- Field of vision: the recommended minimum field of vision is 60°. However, it may be worthwhile to choose a higher value in order to be able to move freely. Moreover, if your webcam is to be used in a group, a wider angle (minimum 90°) is more than necessary so that everyone involved has enough room on the screen. The best video conferencing cameras can go up to 180°.
- Additional functions: each computer peripheral comes with a dedicated software. It includes all the functions available with your device. In the case of webcams, you can, for example, take advantage of a solution that allows you to stream your screen in parallel with your image, a face-tracking system or a surveillance camera mode based on motion detection.
