iOttie Easy One Touch 5
Practical and ingenious, this model can be fixed on the dashboard or on the windscreen. With its numerous adjustments, it is the most ergonomic model in our selection.
Not only iOttie has a product that is almost infallible due to the combination of the suction cup and clamp system, but it also manages to stand out from its competitors by offering a very high quality of assembly. This ensures that the whole stand is very rigid, thus more stable, even on the cobbled road of your route. Moreover, there are many versions available to find the best model for your vehicle.
iOttie Easy One Touch Wireless 2
Whether as a mount or as a charger, this model is convincing thanks to its excellent ergonomics and numerous adjustments. Just like the One Touch 5, it is a reference on the market.
With the One Touch Wireless 2, iOttie repeats the feat with an almost infallible mount, using the same suction cup and clamp system as on the One Touch 5. Once again, the quality of the assembly has been carefully designed to ensure rigidity and stability, no matter what the road conditions. It also incorporates efficient wireless charging with a speed faster than the competition (+ 40% approximately). It is also available with an automated clamp system.

Honorable mentions
iOttie iTap 2 Magnetic (£25,45 upon publication): iOttie and its magnetic dashboard mount. With the same quality of assembly as the Easy Touch in our selection, this model is primarily intended for use on the dashboard. The phone is attached using a very effective magnetic system. Unfortunately, its format limits the number of possible adjustments, which makes it less relevant than the other solution of the brand, in our eyes.
Steelie Orbiter AirVent (£35,58 upon publication): a practical but expensive chrome ball. Taking the basic principle of the magnetic models, the Orbiter presents itself as a very qualitative high-end version. Its weight is a testament to the quality of the materials used and its spherical head allows the phone to be oriented in a comfortable position. Unfortunately, the high price is hard to justify.
How to choose your smartphone car mount?
As our smartphones have become true companions on the road, smartphone car mounts have become a necessity.
While several studies have shown that using a phone while driving reduces a driver’s attention by 30-50%, these phone mounts offer a safer alternative that should prevent accidents on the road, or at least allow the driver to use the GPS application on their smartphone without endangering their life.
But if smartphones are all more or less similar and if the constraints of driving are more or less the same for everyone, choosing the right mount is not a decision to be taken lightly.

That is why we have outlined the criteria you should consider when buying one online:
- Compatibility: before making any purchase, you should first ensure that the mount is compatible with your car and your phone. Compatibility is an essential requirement that directly affects the mount’s quality. If you choose a mount that is not compatible with your ventilation system, it will not be able to hold your smartphone. The same applies if you decide to opt for a clamp system that cannot offer a wide (or narrow) enough space to hold your phone.
- Type of frame: when we talk about the type of frame, we mean the system by which the mount sticks to the car. There are three main types: the suction cup system, the clamp system and the CD slot. The location of the mount therefore varies according to its frame, for example it can be attached to the dashboard, the windscreen, the ventilation system or even in the CD slot. Each possibility offers more or less optimal visibility.

- Type of mount: the type of mount is the part that is intended to hold the phone. There are two main categories, magnetic mounts and clamp-on mounts. While the latter are based on the use of clamps to hold the phone, magnetic holders are based on the use of a magnetic plate to be stuck behind your smartphone. It is the presence of this plate that provides the magnetic attraction (and repulsion) between the mount and the phone.
- Stability and accessibility: in order to be able to fully enjoy a car phone holder, stability and accessibility are two important points, since a good mount is above all resistant to the bumps of the road and can be handled with one hand only. Note that these two criteria cannot be met if compatibility was not taken into account first.
