AmazonBasics
Affordable price, healthy and pleasant to the touch material, good durability and easy maintenance make this model the best value for money, in our opinion.
Available in a wide range of sizes and colours, this blanket is made entirely of durable polyester. It is Oeko-Tex Standard 100 certified, which means it meets environmental standards and the material is non-toxic. In our test, we found it to be very soft with its velour effect, and it doesn’t tend to fluff up. It is also warm enough to spend the autumn and winter seasons in your company. In addition, the cat hair came off very easily, and after machine washing at 30°C and air drying, we found it intact and as soft as ever.
Blumtal Cosy
This fleece blanket features softness, simplicity and durable, substance-free material. It remains intact even after washing and avoids animal hair.
Available in various sizes and colours, this blanket is made of 100% polyester and is Oeko-Tex certified (no harmful substances). We found it soft, fluffy to the touch and very comfortable. It is also warm enough for winter and can be used in a variety of environments (indoors and outdoors). When we tested it, we did not notice any fluff, nor did it retain much animal hair. After washing it in the washing machine at 30°C, it dried very quickly and was as nice and soft as when it was first used.
Zollner
Despite its high price, this lovely reversible blanket has two different, soft sides with a cosy look. It provides great warmth for the winter and dries quickly after washing.
This model is available in two sizes (150×200 cm or 220×240 cm). It is Oeko-Tex certified and entirely made of 160 g/m² polyester without harmful elements. It has two sewn sides: one with a leather look and the other in smooth fleece. This reversibility is very interesting, even if the second side has more animal hair. In our test, we appreciated its superior softness and, above all, its great warmth that allows us to spend winter evenings on the sofa. After washing in the washing machine at 30°C, it retained its shine and softness, and we were pleasantly surprised by its ability to dry quickly despite its thickness. Last but not least, we would like to point out that it has a nice cocooning effect, which allowed us to use it also as a bedspread.
Bedsure Bedspread
Made entirely of cotton, this blanket offers a natural and elegant look with its waffle texture. It doesn’t pill, and the material breathes, which is especially interesting for summer use.
Available in a wide range of colours and two sizes, it is made entirely of cotton, has an elegant and natural waffle look and is perfect for use on a sofa or as a bedspread. It is also warm enough, but not optimal for winter. We test it more in summer because it breathes very well. Also, it doesn’t pill, but logically it is less soft than a wool blanket and can retain some animal hair. It is also Oeko-Tex certified, which means it is suitable for sensitive skin. We machine-washed it at 30°C, and although it wasn’t the quickest to dry, the material remained intact. Our only regret is that it wrinkled a little after air drying.

How did we test?
We used each of the blankets in our daily lives and in different locations to test their comfort and warmth in a wide range of environments and temperatures. As a result, we have been able to test their softness, durability, and ability to remove pet hair (cat hair in particular).
To assess care, cleanliness and longevity, we machine-washed each blanket (according to the manufacturer’s instructions). We then placed them in the open air to time the drying time.
How to choose your blanket?
Blankets are a staple of our homes. Practical and beautiful, many of them not only keep us warm on cold days but also serve as a decorative element.

As this hybridisation is particularly popular with consumers, it is not surprising that the market is full of all kinds of models. But although at first glance they look similar, they are far from having the same features and quality levels.

To help you see things more clearly, we have set out to list some of the features to consider to make the best choice:
- Dimensions: there is no perfect size, as each one corresponds to a specific use. If you want to use your model as a blanket, you will choose it according to its size. On the other hand, if you want to place it as a decorative element, take into account the dimensions of the piece of furniture on which you plan to place it.

- The material: wool, cotton, cashmere or synthetic fibre – each material has its advantages and disadvantages. For example, cotton is known for its durability and ease of care, while synthetic fibres are ideal for our furry friends. However, they tend to generate static electricity.

- Maintenance: except for woollen models, which should be dry cleaned, it is easier and more convenient to opt for machine-washable models.
- Functionality: although most blankets are suitable for indoor use, others can be used outdoors. Better still, some have sleeves and pockets so you can move around comfortably and warmly.

Honorable mentions
Bedsure Cuddly Blanket (£18.99 upon publication): as good indoors as outdoors. Available in a wide range of sizes and colours, this all-weather flannel blanket (260g/m²) is soft, fluffy and lightweight. In our test, we machine-washed it at 30°C, and after a quick drying, it retained its colour and comfort, although it lost a little more of its softness compared to the other models we tested.
Vivezen (£22,90 upon publication): a pyjama-blanket. Its uniqueness lies in its design. Particularly suitable for the sick and reading enthusiasts, it has a 100% polyester fleece texture that makes it very easy to machine wash. Although it has no fastenings to keep it closed, it is comfortable and qualitative, especially thanks to its beautiful dimensions of 210 x 160 cm.
Hansleep Fleece Blanket (£20.99 upon publication): a soft model available in different formats. Its flannel design (280 g/m²) is Oeko-Tex certified, which limits the risk of allergies. The material is soft (even after washing) and warm enough to cover up in autumn and winter. The seams are of good quality and do not pill. It is suitable for indoor and outdoor use. After putting it in the washing machine, we could appreciate its resistance to fading and shrinkage, and during our test, we also found that it dries quickly in the open air.
