Love & Green
(500 ml)
With a minimalist composition, this 2-in-1 body and hair shampoo offers a gel texture that is very pleasant to use and is guaranteed fragrance-free, to preserve your baby’s natural smell.
Presented in a large 500ml bottle, Love and Green had already stood out in our search for the best gel shampoo. This 2-in-1 product has a lot going for it: a gel texture that is easy to apply and guarantees the longevity of the shampoo, a bottle equipped with a pump that is easy to handle with one hand, and a composition based on aloe vera that is virtually flawless. In our tests, all these advantages were confirmed and convinced us of its almost unbeatable price/quality ratio.
Eco by Naty
(200 ml)
The brand’s flagship product, this shampoo highlights its organic and ecological footprint, while offering a composition that respects sensitive scalps and skin.
This small 200 ml bottle hides a lot of potential: a composition based on coconut oil and aloe barbadensis leaves for a treatment, particularly adapted to sensitive skin, a subtle smell of lemongrass and a semi-thick texture very pleasant to use. The brand claims a formulation based on 99.4% natural ingredients and 12% organically grown ingredients, but also a packaging made of biosourced plastic. During our tests, we were totally convinced by its small format with a practical cap, as it is easy to take everywhere while remaining waterproof.
Burt’s Bees Baby (235 ml)
In addition to being formulated with 98.9% natural ingredients and suitable for sensitive skin, this 2-in-1 shampoo has an unmistakable honey scent that will appeal to fans of sweet fragrances.
Presented in a 235 ml bottle with a practical opening cap, this shampoo also acts as a body wash and is suitable for the whole family. During our tester’s bath, we noticed that its liquid texture makes it rather easy to handle, that it lathers quickly and doesn’t show any difficulties when rinsing. In addition to its pleasant use, it also stood out from other shampoos because of its strong honey smell, which lingers on the hair after washing. You either like it or you don’t, but it has to be said that the vast majority of users are won over.
Mixa Bébé Bio
(250 ml)
Hypoallergenic and based on mostly natural ingredients, this 2-in-1 shampoo sold in a pump bottle is an interesting alternative because of its light and delicate fragrance.
Despite the popularity of the Mixa brand among the general public, we were surprised to find that many of its products had a lot to do in terms of composition. The exception to the rule is this shampoo, from the Organic range, which stands out because its composition is mainly based on natural ingredients, which led us to include it as an alternative in our selection. Our tests showed that its pump format is very practical to use, despite its slightly too liquid texture. Above all, we were impressed by its delicate scent, with a very natural effect.

Honorable mentions
Mama Bear (3x300ml) (£17.84 upon publication): an odourless alternative. From the brand marketed by the giant Amazon, this 2-in-1 hair and body shampoo pleasantly surprised us on use. Its gel texture is thick enough to use only a small amount of product, its composition is not very debatable and its pump format is, once again, very practical to handle. We were especially surprised (and even confused) by the total absence of fragrance, which will please parents who are addicted to their baby’s natural smell.

How to choose your baby shampoo?
When we become parents, we also turn into the target of advertisers. In fact, many of the latter are on a mission to sell us anything and everything with their myriad marketing strategies.
Even so, we only want the best of the best for our baby, so before choosing such a product, we need to pay a lot of attention.

Here is a list of criteria to consider before purchasing:
- The composition: even if the regulations in force are increasingly restrictive for brands, some still have a great deal of work to do. Among the chemical components to which we must pay the most attention, we can mention Sodium Laureth Sulfate (SLS), for its irritating power, but also parabens and phthalates, potentially carcinogenic endocrine disruptors. Moreover, we advise you to avoid them as much as possible in classic shampoos (for adults) too.
- The packaging: from the small format adapted to hair with specific needs to the family packaging used for two or more children, the main thing is to find what really corresponds to your needs. Besides that, the product can be found either in a tube, a bottle or a pump. Everyone has their own preferences, although we recommend the pump for ease of use with a toddler, as it can be handled with one hand.

- The fragrance: if there is one truth that everyone agrees on, it is that babies naturally smell good. However, many parents like a light fragrance, as long as it is discreet. Be careful with synthetic fragrances, however, as they unnecessarily add a whole range of potentially irritating or allergenic agents to the original composition. It is better to use natural fragrances, so as not to alter their skin too much.
- The “Tear Free” label: to keep bathing a pleasure, it is essential to find a gentle product that does not irritate the eyes. But beware of this statement! To be sure of its truthfulness, it is once again best to look at the list of ingredients. Glycols are considered the most potentially irritating. In case of doubt, it is once again best to turn to products with natural ingredients.

- The type of product: it should be noted that most brands offer 2-in-1 products, suitable for both body and hair washing. If your baby does not have a specific scalp condition (such as cradle cap), these products will be perfectly suitable and will have the advantage of clearing up the clutter in your bathroom. Otherwise, it is better to use a special shampoo.
